Greenwich Village Part II --- Tourist Trap |
|||
Note: After Publication of this article, flamboyant bohemian Joe Gould, later made famous by Joseph Mitchell's New Yorker profile and Stanley Tucci's movie (Joe Gould's Secret), showed up at Collier's editorial offices. Gould cursed the article and threatened to sue for defamation and damages on behalf of all Greenwich Village. After discussing the issues for some time, the editor offered Gould a $10 bill. Gould accepted the settlement, smiled and departed. |
